Floating Golf Green

Floating Golf Green

Conversation is like being on journey with no map or ‘Sat Nav’, you just don’t know where you may end up. The “journey” in question was a meeting with our website designer, David Behan. It followed an recognised route (i.e. we discussed the design, layout and content of the website and I explained the properties of polystyrene and projects that we were involved in). As you would expect with a business meeting, there were no major detours – just a steady journey. We did stop after a while for a coffee, and this is where the mystery tour started. I won’t trouble you with the twists and turns it took, but it ended up with David’s interest in golf, and a floating green in Idaho.

Yes, a floating golf green in Idaho. It is an award winning feature, at the Coeur d’Arlene Golf & Spa Resort close to Washington and the Canadian border. The green at the 14th hole floats on a base that is made from styrofoam. This example shows us that polystyrene can often be perfectly suited to various applications in which its use would not normally be expected. A bit like the journey in the conversation.
