The 3 R’s circa 2009
- Posted in Uncategorized by Fran
In education circles, I was always told that the three R’s were Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. It is a little confusing, as only one of them starts with R!
However, the 3 R’s changed to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle: a concept that is easier to understand and implement, and one that we follow here at Made in Hollywood. Large 6′ bags of polystyrene offcuts stored in the workshop are evidence of this.
However, in 2008 and 2009 the 3 R’s are taking on a new meaning as words that are appearing more and more in the press, on many on-line forum and in private conversations are: Recession, Redundancy and Receivership.

To The Gym
Words that are not particularly hopeful if you are the receiving end of them, so our resolution for 2009 is to try and use these “R” words instead:
Rejoice that the rasher, for the sandwich that was at risk a couple of weeks ago, is rescued.
Reject the rigmarole of red tape that come our way.
Resign ourselves to fact that we may have another summer of rain and raging rivers.
Run to the gym and not with the rabble in the riot.
Respond rapidly to requests for information.
Rise to challenges and rebound from any disappointments.
Remember to send receipts and invoices.
Refill the bucket with render or fibreglass resin to reinforce the products, to make them robust.
Research and reinvent solutions for all our customers including those in the retail sector.

If we get time we might:
Rethink and replay the moves to solve a rubic cube or retire it to the top shelf.
Revel in times of recreation and relaxation whilst reaching for the ragout or ravioli ( we love French and Italian food).
Relying on rational thoughts and resolute passion we will hopefully all Rally together for a Rapid Recovery.
We regret the rampant use of the letter “R” in this post. We hope that we haven’t given you reason to resent our ramblings, if we have, please respond in the comment (rectangle) box.

Just wondering about the cutting again, is there anything you can use them for ? Maybe as packing when broken down a little more ? Or insulation ? Just thinking out loud.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your comment although I don’t fully understand what your asking. Polystyrene can be cut for packaging, insulation and many other items.
